St. John’s Lane

Location: 30 St. John’s Lane ECIM London

Client: Private

Status: Completed

30 St. John’s Lane is situated in the Farringdon area of London. Looking up, along this road, it is easy to distinguish that the surrounding properties have been developed higher and higher. In this context, Goldman & Co. proposed to the client to add several new stories to accommodate either offices or flats. Market research and design studies determined that the best combination was an extra half-floor of commercial offices and 2 stories containing residences.

The penthouse was designed as a single luxury 2+1 bedroom flat that could be transformed easily into 2 smaller flats in the future. The flat boats features such as tall bookcases along the staircase, fireplace in a full story of living space, and a fantastic views to St. Paul’s Cathedral from a generous outdoor terrace which is set-back from the street.

The aesthetic aim was to blend into the character of the immediate surroundings. Materials were selected from the palette of the nearby Goldsmiths’ University building recently complete that is sited down the adjacent road such as deep boxed-in windows and cream coloured stone.
